A PASSENGER died after becoming “agitated” and biting another man on an Aer Lingus flight. The 24-year-old, who has not been named, was on a Lisbon to Dublin flight when he began behaving erratically and had to be restrained by crew.
He became “unwell” after apparently biting another man, and fell unconscious moments after. The incident sparked a medical emergency and the captain diverted the flight to Cork Airport, where it landed at 5.40pm yesterday.
It is not clear when the man died but he was pronounced dead on the plane. A woman accompanying him has been arrested and is being questioned by police in Cork.
The bite victim, believed to be studying in Ireland, has been taken to hospital. A post-mortem examination is to be carried out.
Crew members and around 170 passengers are being interviewed by police.
