Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey confirmed the movement of four key executives late Sunday evening: Dorsey said in a tweet that head of product Kevin Weil, head of media Katie Stanton, SVP of engineering Alex Roetter and VP of HR Skip Schipper all had “chosen to leave the company.” He added: “All four will be taking some well-deserved time off.”
The departures of Weil, Stanton and Roetter had previously been reported by Recode and confirmed by other media outlets. And while Recode didn’t quite spell it out like that, others including the Wall Street Journal were quick to say that Twitter had forced the executives out.
Dorsey called this “inaccurate press rumors,” and Roetter himself took to Twitter to say that he had been thinking about this step for some time. Dorsey also had high praise for the executives, and painted them as essential to the growth of the company.
