A Zuba Grade 1 Area Court on Monday sentenced a 30-year-old farmer, Shuaibu Musa, to 12 months imprisonment for assault and causing hurt.
Musa of Jabu village, Abuja, was arraigned on a three-count charge of joint act , assault and causing hurt.
The presiding officer, Malam Gambo Garba, who sentenced Musa after he pleaded guilty, however, gave the convict an option to pay a fine of N20,000.
The Prosecutor, Mr Chinedu Ogada, had told the court that the matter was reported at the Dutse Alhaji Police Station by Felix John of the same address.
Ogada said John told the police that on Feb. 20, the convict conspired with one other now at large and assaulted him to the extent of inflicting injury on his face and both hands.
He said during the assault, he lost his Samsung S5 phone valued N91,000.
The prosecutor told the court that during police investigation, Musa confessed to the crimes.
He said the offences contravened Sections 79, 265, 242, and 287 of the Penal Code.
