A number of those at Old Trafford have decided that the Dutch boss has come to the end of his time at the club and favour the Portuguese to replace him
A number of senior Manchester United players have lost confidence in manager Louis van Gaal and want Jose Mourinho to replace the Dutchman at Old Trafford, according to reports.
Van Gaal is under increasing pressure at the club, following back-to-back defeats, first to Sunderland in the Premier League and then to FC Midtjylland in the Europa League – widely believed to be Man United’s only hope of qualifying for the Champions League next season.
And following the latest set-backs, The Guardian has revealed that a senior faction within the United dressing room now believe that the Dutchman’s time is up, though Van Gaal remains generally popular with the playing staff.
The faction wants Mourinho to replace Van Gaal as boss at Old Trafford and the club hierarchy are becoming increasingly anxious that the former Chelsea boss could make a return to Italy, after being linked with Inter.
