The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 70-year-old woman, her son and two others for alleged armed robbery in Abeokuta, the state capital. The 70-year-old woman and the gang were said to have been terrorising Abeokuta before their arrest by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, led by the officer-in-charge, Tijani Mohammed.
According to Punch, the suspects are Moninola Lateef, 70; her son, Modiu Lateef, Wale Okukenu, and Fatai Osho.
The Police public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said the suspects had been on the wanted list of the police and were eventually arrested on Tuesday.
He added that the septuagenarian was arrested along with the gang members for allegedly assisting her 35-year-old son, Modiu, who sustained gunshot injuries during an operation, to get treatment from a herbalist.
He said, “Moninola is the mother of one of the suspects, Modiu. She was arrested along with the robbery suspects for taking her son to a herbalist.
“It was the herbalist that gave the robbery suspect the treatment to extract bullets and pellets lodged in his body when he was shot during a foiled robbery operation.
“Four of them will be charged to court as soon as the Ogun State Police Command concludes all its investigations.”
