The way your hair looks is very important to your personalty.Soft, shiny hair isn’t very hard to achieve and is not for the ladies only. A bit of extra attention can turn men’s hair from dry, dull and lifeless to soft and healthy. Read on to know how . . .
Change your shampooing routine
Shampoo is essential for haircare but it can also rid the hair of moisture and make it dry. Shampoo your hair only when it needs it, as frequent shampooing strips the natural moisture from the hair. Wash your hair if it gets dirty at work or if you exercise. Otherwise, every two or three days may be enough. Rinse thoroughly, as shampoo residue causes hair to look dull and lifeless. Avoid hot water for shampooing and rinsing; hot water dries the hair.
Use conditioner
Follow each shampoo with a moisturising conditioner, which softens the hair and helps it maintain natural moisture. Massage the conditioner gently through the hair so all strands are coated, then leave the product in your hair for five minutes before rinsing thoroughly. Condition your hair in the shower to provide moisture, even on days you don’t shampoo.
Oil your hair
This is a pretty obvious tip for people with dry hair. Massage a few drops of olive, jojoba, avocado or coconut oil into your hair as needed to provide control and to add additional moisture. Avoid hair products with fragrance or alcohol, which dry the hair quickly. You can also wrap a towel soaked in hot water after applying oil in your hair so that your hair can be effectively moisturised.
Avoid dying your hair
Chemical-based dyes can further deprive your hair of moisture and make them even drier. Dyes can also give rise to other hair problems and they are best avoided.
Avoid silicone-based shampoos
Shampoos that contain silicon or other forms of silicone should not be used by people with dry hair. Most silicon derivatives have ‘cone’ as their suffix such as Dimethicone and Cyclomethicone.
Apply yoghurt to hair
Yoghurt is hailed as one of the best natural conditioners for hair. Massage yoghurt into your scalp and leave it for a few minutes before rinsing. You can also apply mayonnaise to get rid of dry hair.
Dietary supplements
There are many dietary supplements which can help you have healthy hair naturally. Eat foods that are rich in vitamin B such as peas, beans, carrots, nuts and eggs. Another vitamin which is essential for healthy hair is Biotin or vitamin H which is present in brown rice, soya beans and walnuts.
