Pregnant: Nadia Khan's husband has pleaded guilty to her murder |
A 26-year-old man has pleaded guilty to the murder of his pregnant wife and the destruction of her unborn child, court officials have said.
Tariq Khan admitted murdering 24-year-old Nadia Khan when he appeared at Bradford Crown Court today.
Mrs Khan was found with fatal stab wounds at a house in Bradford, West Yorks, on June 14 of this year.
She was understood to have been six months pregnant at the time of her death.
Her husband was charged with murder, child destruction and assault by beating.
Khan, who had separated from her shortly before the killing, was facing deportation proceedings at the time.
He also admitted assaulting his wife about a month before the murder.
Khan was assisted by an interpreter in his native tongue, Hindkho, a language from the Attock district in the north west of Pakistan.
He was today remanded in custody to be sentenced on October 16.
Judge Roger Thomas QC warned him he faced a life sentence.
