According to report, the Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, is likely to recall John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses, both under the payroll of Chelsea FC. The Nigerian coach will have the luxury of both players for the team’s Cameroon and Congo in October’s friendly matches in Belgium, Vanguard reports.
Watford striker, Odion Ighalo and Monaco defender, Elderson Echiejile, are likely returnees to Oliseh’s team but there are doubts over the chances of Vincent Enyeama being recalled to the team.
This new development is coming on the heels of the players’ performances for their respective clubs last weekend.
Wile Mikel got a rare start in the heart of Chelsea’s midfield against Everton and provided the assist that led to his team’s solitary strike during the loss, Moses (on loan at West Ham) was a standout performer as his team beat Newcatle 2-0.
Ighalo also scored the winner for Watford in their game during last weekend.
These results seems to have galvanised the Nigerian coach to put the players involved in his plans ahead of the friendly matches slated for next month.
Also, four Nigerian league players will be part of the squad to face the African countries in the international friendlies.
Mikel had reportedly begged some officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over a possible return to the national team set up after it appeared that the coach had blacklisted him for not picking his calls.
Although Mikel has not performed at the highest level, week-in, week-out, it is believed that the Nigerian midfield player is being compensated by Oliseh for his starter’s appearance against Everton last weekend.
