The governorship campaign of the All Progressives Congress in Kogi state, has suffered a major setback. The gubernatorial candidate of the APC, Audu Abubakar, has lost most of the support base in his Local Government Area.
Over the weekend, 12,700 members of the APC officially cross-carpeted to the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party. The mass defection took place at Ofu Local Government Area, where Prince Abubakar Audu, comes from.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, the member representing the constituency in the state House of Assembly, Elder Friday Makama, declared that incumbent governor, Idris Wada, would earn 80% of the area’s votes.
He said: “I will continue to say it that APC cannot penetrate Igalamela/Odolu. All our political leaders here are PDP and our people have asked me to tell his Excellency that on November 21, they shall show their appreciation for all the governor has been doing in the constituency.”
