INDIGENOUS Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) has raised the alarm over the deteriorating ill health of its leader and Director of Radio Biafra, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu who is being detained by security agents.
The group alleged a plot by security agents to keep Kanu in the same cell with suspected Boko Haram members, saying that despite his health condition, he has been undergoing serious torture in the hands of Department of Security Services (DSS).
In a statement signed by IPOB’s National Coordinator, Chidiebere Onwudiwe and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, IPOB warned the Federal Government and security agents that there would be unsavoury consequences if anything happens to Kanu.
The IPOB called the attention of world powers like Britain, United Nations, African Union, United States of America, Israel, Russia, France as well as other human rights bodies such as Amnesty International to intervene in the inhuman treatment of Kanu before it is too late.
Kanu was arrested last year at the Lagos Airport and was taken to Abuja by men of the DSS where he was freed by the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja but was re arrested and charged for treasonable felony by the Federal Government.
