Mother Jailed For Pocketing £15,000 From Her Dead Son’s Charity Fund [Photo]

A MOTHER who stole thousands raised for her dead son’s favourite charity has been jailed.

Heather Airey, 57, held a series of events for the Great North Air Ambulance after son Justin, 17, was killed in a motorbike accident in 2005.

The court was told that £15,000 was a “conservative estimate” of what she stole. She also conned a kids’ charity and her relatives.

Husband Alan found she applied for a joint £50,000 loan as their home was being repossessed.

She took £30,000 from her father-in-law’s account after forging a power of attorney document.

Airey, of Durham, admitted fraud and forgery. She was jailed for three years and seven months at the city’s crown court.
