Donald Trump has used Adele’s music as part of his campaign to help win him votes, and Adele is not happy about it.
The Republican presidential candidate played Adele’s Rolling In The Deep as his “warm-up” music for his campaign, which carries the slogan ‘Make American great again’.
She has now issued a statement to distance herself from his campaign and to confirm that she’s not endorsing his political agenda.
“Adele has not given permission for her music to be used for any political campaigning,” her spokesman confirmed to the BBC.
Trump previously found himself on the receiving end of a cease-and-desist letter last year from Aerosmith star Steven Tyler’s lawyers.
The politician used the band’s song, Dream On, at several of his rallies around the United States.
The rockers claimed that Trump’s use of their song gave “a false impression” that they endorsed his presidential bid.
Trump used the opportunity to write about it on Twitter and said that while he was legally ok to use the track, he had found “a better one to take its place”.
“Steven Tyler got more publicity on his song request than he’s gotten in 10 years. Good for him!” he wrote.
It’s thought that Trump played Adele’s song for the first time at a rally in Lexington, South Carolina, last week.
