A 27-year-old man has been sentenced to one year imprisonment without option of fine by an Abuja Grade 1 Area Court for stealing three fowls in Dutsen Alhaji, Abuja.
Shabban Umar of Dutsen Alhaji, was convicted under sections 79, 342 and 288 of the Penal Code.
The prosecutor, Babajide Olanipekun had told the court that the complainant, one Buhari Aliyu of Karsona village, Dutsen Alhaji, reported at the Kubwa police station how the accused with others who were also arrested, arraigned and convicted, entered his house and stole two Tiger generators valued at N37,000, three mobile phones valued at N15,000 and three fowls valued at N7,500, all totaling N59,000.
Olanipekun however said that one generator and one android phone were recovered from the accused during police investigation.
When the charges were read to the accused, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to one year imprisonment by the judge, Mohammed Marafa, without any option of fine, having been convicted three times previously.
