A motion calling for the embargo on foreign trips and international travels by public servants to be lifted survived a spirited resistance in the House of Representatives before being passed.
The motion was sponsored by an APC lawmaker representing Kano State at the Lower House of the House of Representatives.
Representative Nasiru Garo said that the embargo is denying the nation of benefiting from international collaborations on capacity building and manpower development.
Lawmakers who rose against the motion claimed the motion is against the present realities in the country which calls for fiscal discipline.
The sponsor of the motion therefore called for the House to mandate four committees to take steps to ensure the embargo is lifted.
An amendment was proposed and adopted to have the four committees to find out why the embargo was placed in the first place.
