Kurt Zouma will miss the rest of the season and the Euro 2016, after picking up an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury in the draw against Manchester United.
The France international landed awkwardly in the fixture and was immediately brought off and replaced by Gary Cahill.
After the match, Zouma was seen on crutches and it was revealed he’ll undergo surgery.
A statement from the club read: “Chelsea Football Club’s medical team have diagnosed that Kurt Zouma sustained an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament during yesterday’s Premier League game against Manchester United.
“Kurt will undergo surgery in the next 48 hours and is expected to be out for approximately six months.”
Following the news, Zouma tweeted thanks to his followers for their support and vowed to return stronger after establishing himself as a first-team regular this season
