Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Usman Abdul, in a statement issued yesterday, stated that the abductors dropped off Mrs. Inusa, but whisked her husband away with his black Mercedes Benz car with Abuja registration number KUJ 154 TZ and headed towards Abuja.
”Anybody with useful information or assistance should please assist in tracking these abductors,” the statement appealed. The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Mechanized Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Adeniyi Oyebade, has promised N500,000 cash reward for anyone with useful information that could lead to the release of Inusa.
Spokesman for 1 Division, Colonel Abdul Usman, however assured that such information would be treated with utmost confidentiality. It would be recalled that the President of the Kaduna- based United Church of Christ in Nigeria, Rev. Emmanuel Dziggau and two others, were also kidnapped by gunmen last Tuesday.
The gunmen, who were said to have been wearing masks, reportedly stormed the crusade ground of the church on Monday and abducted the clergyman and two members of the church while other church members managed to escape.
