In a statement released by the acting Director Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, the wanted terrorist, Mr. Umaru, whose picture was on the Wanted 100 list, was nabbed at about 1.35pm on Friday, deep inside Sambisa forest following a raid by the 143 Battalion. He has since been moved to 28 Task Force Brigade Headquarters for investigation.
In a related development, the army revealed that the sum of N1.9 million was found on an Internally Displaced Person (IDP), Abacha Bulama, in Borno State, after an interception of 31 IDPs from Sunabaya, Gumule, Garno and Mane-Gana villages by the 22 Task Force Brigade Garrison, in conjunction with 112 Task Force Battalion.
The other IDPs were handed over to Dikwa IDP Camp Manager for screening and further humanitarian assistance while Mr Bulama was detained for further investigation, Premium Times reports.
Also, troops from 22 Task Force Brigade Garrison ran into an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at Antul, a village south east of Dikwa that caused minor injuries to seven soldiers and four fighters from the Civilian JTF, while two of the terrorists were killed.
The injured soldiers and their civilian counterparts have been evacuated to 7 Division Hospital and Medical Services, Maiduguri, the army said.
