Just In: White House Under Lockdown After 'shooting' Nearby

THE WHITE House has gone into lockdown after a person was shot just west of the President's official residence, US police have said.

According to officers at the scene, the shooting happened on the corner of 17th and East streets North West, in D.C.

Local US media are reporting that cops shot a Caucasian male at the scene.

According to a D.C. fire department representative, the victim is in a critical condition and was rushed to hospital immediately.
