Nigeria Police Force - About nine persons aspiring to gain a place into the Nigeria Police Force have been detained in Enugu for a grievous offense.
The Enugu State Police Command has detained nine persons in the ongoing nationwide recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force for alleged falsification of certificates.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amarizu, made this known in a statement in Enugu on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the offences involved alteration of First School Leaving Certificates, birth certificates and other documents.
It added that the nine persons had been assisting the command to apprehend other perpetrators.
Amarizu, a Superintendent of Police, recalled that the Commissioner of Police representing Force Headquarters, Abuja in the ongoing recruitment in Enugu, Peter Ogunyanwo, had warned prospective candidates to resist the temptation to engage in acts that could implicate them.
Mr. Ogunyanwo had specifically urged the candidates to shun acts of falsification of documents like age declaration, birth certificates and First School Leaving Certification (FSLC).
The statement, then, described the act as a criminal offence, warning that offenders would be prosecuted if nabbed.
It, however, advised candidates to be law-abiding and shun any illegal activity that could mar their chances during the exercise.
