Ekiti state governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has accused the federal government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari of freezing his personal account with Zenith Bank.
The increasingly controversial governor levelled the allegation against the president and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) through his Twitter account on Monday evening. He tweeted:
My personal Account of at Zenith Bank has been frozen courtesy of Buhari led APC tyrannical govt.— Peter Ayodele Fayose (@GovAyoFayose) June 20, 2016
The governor elected on the platform of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has been a major critic of the APC administration and the president. He has at different times alleged that operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have placed him on a watch-list and have also been instructed by the president to prevent him from flying out of the country.
Fayose did not, however, provide further details on the alleged freeze order on his personal bank account. The presidency is yet to react to the allegation and has in times past ignored allegations made by the opposition governor.
