Apple now wants to buy Jay Z’s music streaming company Tidal after being accused of threatening and trying to bring the company down.
CNBC broke the news last night that American multinational technology company are in ‘exploratory talks to acquire Tidal’, and this comes after the successful launch of top artistes’ Kanye West and Beyonce’s albums which tripled the music company’s subscribers.
Recall that after the star-studded launch of Tidal, the company faced ‘allegedly sponsored’ criticism and Jay Z took to Twitter to set the records straight: that Tidal is here to stay. The persecution continued in part from the media whose reporting seemed to be targeted at dissuading prospective users, and corporate giants. Apple reportedly barred Jay Z from streaming Drake’s performance at the New Orleans charity event in August.
When Tidal hit one million subscribers in September 2015, Jay Z took to Twitter to celebrate. “Nothing real can be threatened, nothing unreal exists,” the rap guru wrote. “Tidal is platinum. 1,000,000 people and counting.”
Now, Apple is interested in buying the high fidelity streaming service, causing massive raves on social media.
