Little Harry Barker's mum Kylie had no idea she was 31 weeks pregnant when she was taken into hospital suffering from an asthma attack.
Doctors told the 28-year-old mum-of-five the baby had a rare condition known as craniosynostosis, which leaves newborns with abnormal-shaped heads.
Full-time mum Kylie likened her son's elongated head to an alien from the iconic Hollywood horror film series of the same name and medics said it was the size of a '34-year-old man's'.
After the youngster was born in February last year, he was forced to undergo two major surgeries where surgeons had to break apart his skull and piece it back together to ease the swelling on his brain.
Kylie, from Kirkby, Liverpool, said: "When I was pregnant and had my scan they told me his head was quite large.
"I was heartbroken when they first told me about his condition because I didn't know I was pregnant at the time.
"I was only in intensive care for asthma when the nurses said, 'did you know you were 31 weeks pregnant?'
"They thought it was spinal bifida at first and he was born two months prematurely and he was very poorly.
"I didn't see him for the first two days and that was very difficult - all I wanted to do was go and meet him for the first time.
"When I did see him, his head was quite long and he looked like something out of the Alien films."
