Legendary singer Toni Braxton has been hospitalised. According to TMZ, the Grammy award-winning singer was rushed to an Atlanta hospital yesterday following complications “stemming from her battle with lupus.” The media house added that Braxton was checked in four days ago.
BBC describes Lupus as a “chronic autoimmune disease where the body’s immune system becomes hyperactive and attacks normal tissue. This process can lead to the destruction of the kidney, heart, brain, spine, and lung tissue. It can affect almost any system in the body but its exact cause is unknown.”
For Toni Braxton, the singer has had a long battle with the medical issue. In 2012, she was treated for blood clots caused by the disease, two years after she revealed her diagnosis.
Now, she is in an emergency room and TMZ confirms that her partner, the Cash Money CEO Birdman, has jetted from Texas to be by her side.
