What’s the word?
The Guardian are reporting that Dutch international Georginio Wijnaldum could be a doubt for Liverpool’s Premier League match against Manchester United on Monday night.
The man who signed from Newcastle in the summer injured his hamstring as his national side lost to France 1-0 in a World Cup Qualifier and it now looks as though Emre Can could come into the Reds’ line up ahead of the game.
Wijnaldum has been a mainstay in Liverpool’s Premier League side so far this season under Jurgen Klopp, helping them to fourth place in the table.
How badly will he be missed?
Simply, it could be very bad. At the start of this season, many wondered just how Wijnaldum would even fit into the Reds side given that he went down with Newcastle last year, but he is now a pivotal figure.
His running and energy in midfield has allowed Liverpool to control every game, including the loss against Burnley, so how they’ll do against United without that extra mobility remains to be seen. The video below demonstrates perfectly what he can do in terms of keeping the Reds on the move in games.
