Wizkid Dominates 2016 MTV Africa Music Awards

Singer Wizkid was named artist of the year and best male musician and also won the prize for top collaboration at the 2016 MTV Africa Music Awards.

It’s the biggest music award show in Africa and last night, MTV once again celebrated the best music from around the continent as the sixth annual MTV Africa Music Awards took place in Johannesburg, South Africa with an electrifying display of live performances and incredible state-of-the-art staging and lighting.

 Nigerian superstar, WizKid, cleaned up the awards with wins in the prestigious Best Male and Artist of the Year categories, and scoring one extra trophy for his featured performance on Best Collaboration. Other winners included Cassper Nyovest, Yemi Alade, Patoranking, Emtee and Sauti Sol.

 What is an award show without some epic performances, though? American hip-hop sensation, Future, took to the stage as he performed his smash hits “Wicked”, “Lowlife” and “Commas” while Kwesta teamed up with Stonebwoy for an epic remix of his hit single ‘Ngud’.

The night’s big winner, WizKid, also reminded everyone exactly why he took three trophies home this year as he performed with the Soweto Gospel Choir.
