    How 3 Women Led Protesters To Stone Me In Kafanchan — El-Rufai

    Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State on Wednesday narrated how his convoy was attacked in Kafanchan, Jema’a local government of the state.

    The governor was in Kafanchan on Tuesday to hold a state security council meeting.

    El-Rufai in a statement issued by his media aide, Samuel Aruwan, said he was in Kafanchan with his entourage to hold the state security council meeting when three women led protesters to ask him certain questions.

    He said, “I listened to three of the women who led the protesters as they asked me questions. I answered them and even invited them to a larger meeting, but they went on rampage and burnt the residence of the local government chairman.”

    The Governor confirmed he and his entourage were pelted with stones and that some of the vehicles in his convoy broken after he addressed some demonstrators who disrupted a state Security Council meeting he chaired in Kafanchan .

    “The government of Kaduna State and the Security Council sympathize with the chairman of Jema’a local government, Dr.Bege Katuka and his family over the unfortunate incident that led to the burning of their home. Our prayers and support go with them.”

    Our correspondent observed that Kafanchan was calm as the curfew imposed on the local government on Monday was still in place and that most people remained in the houses hoping for the curfew to be lifted.
