Arrest Johnson Suleman Over Hate Speech – Muslim Rights Concern

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has condemned ‘the hate speech’ by the founder of Omega Fire Ministries, Johnson Suleman, and called on the Nigerian security agencies to arrest him.

MURIC, in a press statement signed by its Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola described the pastor’s utterance, allegedly instructing members of his church to kill Fulani people, as provocative and unpatriotic.

Akintola said, “Pastor Johnson Suleman wants to make the country unsafe for Muslims and law abiding Fulanis. It is not in our character to issue threats. We are mature enough to control our emotions… We do not want to join issues with belligerent people who are always bullying Muslims and Fulanis by telling lies and issuing threats.”

He called on the Nigerian security agencies to arrest Pastor Suleman, saying, “Pastor Johnson Suleman must still be questioned and cautioned for his provocative statements.”

Meanwhile, Apostle Suleiman Johnson has denied the allegation that he instructed Christians to kill Muslims, describing the allegation as malicious.

He said what he said centered on the need for Christians to always defend themselves anytime the church was invaded by gunmen and not a direct invitation that could make Christians and Muslims confront one another.

Speaking in Ado Ekiti yesterday, he said it was sinful for anyone to order a fellowman to kill a creation of God, describing the alleged comment as a misrepresentation of facts.

He said: “They said I preached in Auchi two weeks ago which they said implied that I was instigating Christians against Muslims. I have always been an advocate of peace and I can’t stay around and be saying such thing.”

In another development, the Buhari Support Organizations (BSO) has cautioned the Directorate of State Security (DSS) against arresting Apostle Johnson Suleiman.

Addressing journalists in Benin yesterday, the Deputy Director, BSO, Chief Blessing Agbomhere, said the group did not want the DSS or the Federal Government to be drawn into a religious battle.
