Following its recent discovery and seizure of 17 exotic cars allegedly hidden away by former comptroller-general of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Abdullahi Dikko, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) seized more items on Tuesday.
The recent discoveries add to a growing list of assets and huge sums of money already seized from Dikko by the EFCC on suspicion of being proceeds of corruption.
The latest discoveries were made at a warehouse in Kaduna days after the 17 exotic vehicles were traced to another warehouse in Kaduna.
Items said to have been recovered on Monday and Tuesday include a 2013 model 32-seater Nissan bus, 42 cargo tricycles, one tipper truck, 16 motorcycles, over 500 rug carpets and two fire-proof safes.
The Nation reports that the Zonal Head, EFCC in Kaduna, Bappa Ibrahim said the recovery was made following a tip-off as the agency intensified its investigation of the former Customs boss.
The two safes, which were forced open by EFCC operatives in the presence of reporters, contained documents, an iron stamp, 50 and 20 naira notes, amounting to N1,560 and polythene bags.
The Zonal EFCC boss declined comments on the documents found inside the safes, saying further investigations would be carried out on them.
Ibrahim also called on the public to always assist the anti-graft agency with information, as the war against corruption is everyone’s and should not be left for the EFCC alone
