Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is the first player in the Premier League to complete 1,000 passes in the opposition half this season.
Statistics from EA Sports show that Pogba, who is currently on 1,029 passes with a completion rate of 83.05 percent, is ahead of Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson (987), Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil (954), Manchester City’s David Silva (930) and Eden Hazard (875) of Chelsea, while Ander Herrera (871), in sixth place, is Pogba’s nearest competitor at Old Trafford.
The France international moved to United from Juventus in a world-record £89.3 million transfer in the summer and has impressed in his debut season, scoring four goals and setting up three more in 24 Premier League appearances as well as helping Jose Mourinho’s side win the EFL Cup.
Pogba completed his 1,000th pass in the 2-0 win against Watford in February, with the statistics giving a clear indication of his influence on United’s game.
His understanding with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, in particular, has helped United with Pogba setting up five goals for the striker in all competitions this season.
Meanwhile, Pogba had a plate thrown at him and was backed into a corner by furious fans after snubbing an autograph, according to The Sun.
Cops were called to a curry house when the Manchester United aces’s refusal sparked a frenzied melee.
Onlookers said the Reds supporters accuse the £89m Frenchmen, 23, of disrespecting them by refusing to sign his name on a token.
Camera phone footage shows two of the lads trying to square up to the £290,000-a-week midfielder as pals and staff desperately try to hold them back.
One onlooker said, “The row escalated very quickly and it looked like there was going to be punches thrown.
“The lads were furious that Pogba had the nerve to say no to their request for an autograph
“But Pogba was enjoying a quiet meal with friends and felt uncomfortable with the attention.
“They were desperately trying to square up to him and it could easily have turned physical if it weren’t for the staff and their pals holding them back.
“As the world’s most expensive footballer, he’s an easy target for lads trying to show off like that. He dealt with it very well.”
Staff at popular Akbar’s in Manchester city centre called police after the row, just after 11.40pm on Monday evening, but officers did not attend after the situation diffused.
