President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Nigeria to expeditiously release the second tranche of the London-Paris Club refunds to the states in order to ease their financial hardships.
The president gave the directive on Thursday as he met with the National Economic Council at state house Abuja.
He urged governors of the states to in turn settle the unpaid salaries and pension liabilities of their workers.
Meanwhile the council has endorsed Federal Government’s Social Investment programme.
