JAMB Candidates ‘Beat Up Police and Soldiers’ Over Registration Process
Pandemonium has reportedly broken out once again in Makurdi, Benue State following a fight between intending JAMB candidates and security operatives.

Last week, we reported that several frustrated candidates, who were unable to get registration forms, attacked the JAMB zonal office in Markurdi. They were said to have destroyed windows and other properties.

Now, reports reaching us indicate that a fight ensued between prospective JAMB candidates and security operatives today over alleged preferential treatment by some registration officials.

According to reports, only four computers were provided to over 2,000 candidates to complete their registration. During the process, some sneaky student decided to connive with the registration officers to complete their registration first and that was when :

“Students started fighting with security operatives due to the frustrating registration process, the uniform of some of the officers were torn. “A soldier was beaten to coma and as he regained consciousness, he took away three students. As I speak with you, Army personnel are currently trooping into UniAgric.” a witness stated.

In addition, there are reports that some prospective JAMB candidates in Calabar started protesting around 7am today following the poor internet service affecting their registration process for the examination.

Other candidates in Ebonyi, Abia and Imo have also complained about poor internet network, stressful and cumbersome process in registering for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) .
