Some Nigerian Air Force personnel on Wednesday, April 19, clashed with agents of the National Drug and Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos. Sahara Reporters reports that fight broke between personnel of the two government institution when the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) task force denied an NDLEA officer access into the premises.
We gathered that the NDLEA officer had failed to properly identify himself after office hour when the fight began at about 4.52 pm. It was also gathered that FAAN had restricted movement into the airport after 7 pm to reduce the illegal movement at the Hajj and Cargo Terminal area of the facility.
With the restriction, we gathered that individuals must be properly identified before gaining access through the gate at the terminal after 7 pm. Some Nigerian Air Force personnel have clashed with agents of the National Drug and Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) However, the first NDLEA official who showed up after 7 pm was refused entry, until a senior official of the aviation agency intervened.
But shortly, another official of the drug agency forcefully gained entrance into the premises leading to a fight between members of the Nigerian Air Force and the NDLEA. An eyewitness said officials of the NDLEA started throwing stones at the Nigerian Air Force personnel on duty. NAIJ.com also gathered that the Nigeria Air Force officials then invited their colleagues to engage in a fight with agents of the Drug enforcement agency.
Recall that some mobile police officers had clashed with soldiers in Damaturu, Yobe state capital city on Wednesday, April 12. The clash which threw the city in frenzy allegedly led to the death of three people.
