Nnamdi Kanu Vows to Continue Demand for Biafra, Fails to See Key Igbo Leaders

The leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, who was recently granted bail by a Federal High Court in Abuja has vowed to continue his demand for an independent state of Biafra.

Kanu expressed his determination to see to the realisation of the Biafra dream while paying a visit to the Eastern Consultative Assembly (ECA) which appointed Kanu as its leader while he was in detention.

“I have chosen the option that we must be free as a people; that we must be liberated as a race and that we must have every freedom due to us as given by God. I would not want to go to heaven before experiencing it; I want to experience it here,” he said.

Having thanked his supporters especially those who regularly closed their shops, Kanu added:

“I desire Biafra, I want Biafra, I want nothing else other than Biafra. I will not settle for anything else other than Biafra. That was what I was born to do and that is what I will do until the day Biafra will come that we may live as free men on this very earth as the Most High God, Chukwu Okike Abiama, ordained it,” he said.

In his speech at the ECA, the IPOB leader expressed his intention to challenge the stringent terms attached to his bail by Justice Binta Nyako.

Kanu also assured IPOB members that efforts were in progress to secure the release of his alleged conspirators who were yet to be granted bail by the court.

Some of the conditions attached to the bail granted by the court restrict Kanu from holding meetings and being in places where more than 10 people have gathered aside a bar on travelling out of the country.

He was scheduled to pay a visit to Second Republic Vice President, Dr Alex Ekwueme, at Oko, Aguata, in Anambra State on Monday but the visit was cancelled at the last minute due to alleged unforeseen circumstances.

A similar visit to the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, was equally postponed because Nwodo allegedly travelled to the United States all of a sudden, according to Vanguard.
