No, it's not Downing Street's idea of an April Fool's joke. British Prime Minister David Cameron really is a Kardashian.
Well - distantly, at least.
The prime minister made the claim in a video interview with Heat, a British entertainment magazine - the type of soft, personal interview politicians crave when they are five weeks out from a general election.

Having revealed he was quite fond of the psychological thriller Fortitude, Mr Cameron was asked if he watched Keeping Up with the Kardashians - the reality television show that follows sisters Kim, Khloe and Kourtney, now in its 10th season.
"No, but I am related to them," he replied. "Did you know I'm 13th cousins with them?"
The host did know, in fact - this revelation has been put on the record previously. But it is believed to be the first time Mr Cameron has acknowledged it publicly.
According to genealogy website Geni.com, the connection predates La Belle Epoque, the Industrial Revolution or even the discoveries of Galileo. The two families are related through a certain Sir William Spencer - born in 1555 - whose daughters Elizabeth Russell and Catherine Spencer are direct ancestors of Mr Cameron and Kim Kardashian.
While both have risen to the top of their respective "fields", the PM might be wishing he had followed the Kardashians into Hollywood rather than pursuing a life of policy. According to TheRichest.com, Mr Cameron is estimated to be worth a mere $US6 million ($7.9 million) - rather modest compared to the fortunes of Kim ($US64 million), Khloe (US$20 million) and Kourtney ($US18 million).
On the prospect of a family reunion with his celebrity cousins, the PM said: "I have no plans at the moment but that would be great."
In the course of the interview, Mr Cameron answered questions about how he relaxes after work, what he would save from No. 10 in the event of a fire, and what he would do if he were invisible for a day.
He also revealed he was "not very keen on rats" and that he tries to go for a 3.2 kilometre run two or three times a week - but without listening to music.
"I'm a man - I can't do two things at once, don't be ridiculous," he said.
