    HOW U.S HELPED BOKO HARAM — FANI-KAYODE

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has said that the government of the United States of America helped the spread of Boko Haram insurgency in the country by refusing to classify the group as a terrorist organisation until 2014.

The spokesperson of the 2015 Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation also berated the Barrack Obama-led government for refusing to sell arms to Nigeria in the fight against the insurgents. He lamented that the government was unable to buy arms from either the United States or any of her allies because of the international arms embargo it places on Nigeria.

“The U.S. govt. helped Boko Haram immensly by refusing to classify them as a terrorist organisation until 2014 and by refusing to sell us arms to fight them. Worst still, they imposed an international arms embargo on us so that we could not buy arms from anyone else,” Fani-Kayode posted on his Twitter handle.

Boko Haram has killed some 10,000 people since 2009 and has also kidnapped hundreds of girls and women.

During his recent official visit to Obama, President Muhammadu Buhari warned that the U.S has “aided and abetted” the Boko Haram militant group by refusing to provide weapons to Nigeria
