NIGERIANS IN DIASPORA CONTRIBUTE $21BN ANNUALLY TO NIGERIA’S ECONOMY

Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) said, on Monday, that its members contribute $21 billion annually to the country’s economy. The organisation made this known in Abuja during a news conference on the successes recorded at the just-concluded NIDO worldwide leadership summit.

Professor Hauwa Ibrahim, a member of the Board of Directors, NIDO America, said the organisation was ready to key into the change initiative of President Muhammadu Buhari.

"As members of the Nigerians in Diaspora, our spirit is strengthened every day to support the good leadership of President Buhari," she said.
Ibrahim said that "the determination by this government to provide good governance, fight terror and economic recovery are what NIDO stands to support."

She urged Nigerians both home and abroad to come together and build a better nation.

Dr Jonathan Obaja from Singapore, representing NIDO Asia-Pacific, said the resources of Nigerians in the Diaspora were enormous and not fully tapped.

He identified lack of transparency, bad governance and intimidation as part of the problems militating against reaping the abundant Nigeria Diaspora resources.
