DPR SHUTS 39 FILLING STATIONS IN BENUE, NASARAWA OVER ‘SHARP PRACTICES’

The Directorate of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Makurdi field office, has shut 39 additional filling stations in Benue and Nasarawa states for engaging in what they tagged ‘sharp practices.’

This latest closure has brought the total number of filling stations that were shut by the department to 39 outlets in one week.

It was gathered that no fewer than five of the outlets that were shut have paid the N100,000 penalties that would allow them open shop, with a warning to sell the right quantity at the right price.

Speaking to newsmen in Makurdi on Sunday, the DPR Operations Controller, Makurdi Field Office, Abdullahi Isa explained that out of the 39 filling stations that were shut, 23 were situated in Nasarawa, while 16 were in Benue.

He explained that the outlets were closed down for either under dispensing (pump under-delivery) or for selling above the approved government price (over pricing).

The Operations Controller noted that the number of filling stations that were closed down in the two states could be higher as it was still expecting report from two of teams that were still on surveillance.
