Raising Value-Adding Kingdom Leadership - Pastor Olubunmi Obalade

Leadership comes to fore though process or by appointment. Those who evolved to become leaders by process become FUNCTIONAL LEADERS and those who evolved to be leaders by appointment become POSITIONAL LEADERS. Leadership arises by appointment or as a result of crisis situation, or as a process of growth and development.

Leadership that arises as a response to crisis are momentary and situational like a mechanic-driver who becomes a functional leader to his lawyer/banker boss whenever the vehicle breaks down. However, leadership that arises as a result of developmental process is the one that is lasting and value-adding.

A value-adding leadership is a type of leader/leadership that brings transformation into the sphere of influence; a leadership that adds positive value to people, places, processes and products around him. Value-adding leadership is impact-making leadership, touching people, transforming the society, and making a difference.

There are a number of core values that makes a kingdom leader become a value-adding type. This is the thrust of this discourse as we explore the scripture to understand how the Lord would want leaders of his people to make better whatever is delivered into their hands in form of kingdom assignments. For kingdom leadership to be value-adding, the following issues would need a great consideration. We would take each of these in turn searching through the Bible as we explore the lives of persons who exemplified them under God.

THE KINGDOM LEADER MUST BE A MAN OF VISION
For a Kingdom leader to be value-adding, he must be a man of vision. Leaders must be men of vision, lest they lead people into destruction. People with sight will not follow a blind leader, a man who does not know where hes going. The reason why people dont follow us as positional leaders is because they know we have no vision for them that will better their lives; at best we have plans for our own selfish self.

Every sound-minded person in life wants to look back at the point of old age and feel and say to himself/herself I am fulfilled. Life is very short and fleeting. God has given to man a short time here upon earth, and yet upon this short time eternity depends. It is not how many years we live, but what we do with them...

Every day should be engaged as if it were to be our last. Helen Adams Keller (1880-1968), says I will not just live my life. I will not just spend my life. I will invest my life. For this American author and lecturer, who was deaf and blind and later who served as an inspiration for other people with disabilities, to have said that, it means that she discovered something and that was Gods vision and purpose for her life
If your life would be meaningful and your life would be straight, you need a discovery of Gods vision and purpose for your life. If a family/Church would stand out, make a difference, impact people, it must discover Gods original purpose for it.

Your life should not be driven by what goes on all around you: the noise, traditions of men, etc. You are unique and special. God has a mandate and a vision for you to pursue that is why he has wired you and packaged you the way you are. You must discover that vision.
    Study Continues...
