Facebook Orders British App LitterGram To Rebrand Due To Its Use Of "Gram"

One man's mission to clean up Britain's streets has hit a major roadblock, after Facebook threatened legal action over the name of his app.

Kent businessman Danny Lucas created the LitterGram app in the hope that it could help to tackle the country's growing litter crisis.

The app allows users to report incidents of litter and fly tipping across the country, along with photo evidence. These reports are then used to create a "litter map", helping local authorities to deploy their resources effectively.

LitterGram has gained momentum over the last year, with thousands of litter "grot spots" reported. It has also signed an official partnership with Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council, and hopes to extend this to other local authorities.

But now Facebook, which owns the photo app Instagram, has instructed Lucas that LitterGram must change its name, due to its use of the "gram" suffix in its name.
