No Fuel, No Light: Stop blaming us and work ~ PDP Tell Buhari

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has told President Muhmmadu Buhari and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), to stop blaming it for its failure in governance. The opposition party stated that the APC-led administration ought to have chart its own course and stop blaming PDP for its administrative lapses and work. It's now 10 months ago we handed over the affairs of the country to your hand.

The party also reminded the APC that Nigerians as better judges now have the opportunity to compare the two administrations.

Buhari had on Monday blamed the PDP for the nation’s economic woes. According to the president, the 16 years of PDP reign was responsible for the prevailing economic hardship currently being experienced. The president accused the PDP of failing to save for the rainy day during the oil boom. Buhari, who spoke when he received a delegation of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), observed that: “In the First Republic, more enduring infrastructure was built with meagre resources. But in the past 16 years, we made a lot of money without planning for the rainy day.”

But the national chairman of the PDP, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, who spoke at the inauguration of four special committees for the forthcoming National Convention of the party, observed that almost one year in governance, APC is still blaming PDP for current fuel scarcity in the country. “The leadership of the party share the pains of Nigerians after one year in office of the APC-led government.

“Instead of the APC addressing the problems of the country, the ruling party has kept blaming the PDP for lack of petrol in the country. I saw the other day a publication by one of the leaders of the APC that we are responsible for lack of petrol after their one year in office.

“I would like to advise the leaders of the APC to stop blaming us in the PDP; we are now in the opposition party, repositioning our party to show Nigerians that we could do better. “Nigerians have now have the opportunity of comparing the PDP and also the APC. The ultimate judge of this exercise are Nigerians,” the PDP national chairman said. Sheriff alleged that some APC governors have relocated to Abuja for this weekend’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections but warned against rigging the elections.

“We don’t want violence in PDP, so APC should be guided. Let’s play this game according the rules. PDP will not be part of violence but we will protect our votes. We don’t want rerun or inconclusive elections,” he warned. The national chairman advised PDP members whom he accused of not observing the party’s rules. “People should respect the party’s rules. Nobody runs a party on pages of newspapers.
