Chief Owei Brinimugha, a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bomadi local government area of Delta state, was on Wednesday, April 20, shot dead by unknown gunmen. According to Authority Newspaper, the victim was killed by the gunmen around Kess College junction along Iwhrekpokpor road, Ughelli North local government area of the state.
It was gathered that the incident occurred at about 8:30 pm when the popular politician was returning home from an outing. An eyewitness recounted details of the incident, saying the gunmen were adorned in bullet proof vests, shot the victim who is in his early 40s thrice on the stomach after shooting severally into the air to scare away passersby.
Further details revealed that the armed men waited until the victim gave up the ghost before leaving the scene. A senior police officer confirmed the development, saying the Ughelli Area Command has began investigation into the killing in a bit to track down the assailants.
