The son of an Aba-based lawyer has allegedly killed their house help. The incident, which is being treated as a homicide is being investigated by police detectives from the Ogbor Hill Police Division in the Abia State capital.
It was gathered that the boy, who is around six years old, mistakenly killed the help in their house after finding his father’s pistol.
The child reportedly picked the father’s gun from his bedroom thinking that it was a toy gun not knowing that it was a real and loaded.
A source who spoke on the condition of anonymity told our correspondent that “the child pointed the gun at the maid and playfully said, ‘I will kill you’ and on pulling the trigger, the gun went off and killed the house help.”
The case is expected to be transferred to the state CID for further investigation.
When contacted on his mobile phone, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ogbonnaya Nta, confirmed the homicide case.
