Napoli held talks on Tuesday with West Ham striker target Simone Zaza, according to a report.
Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed on his website that the Serie A club are lining up Juventus’ Zaza as a replacement for Manolo Gabbiadini if he joins Everton.
The report claims Napoli will only make their move for the Juventus striker if Everton sign Gabbiadini.
Di Marzio previously claimed on his website that West Ham held talks with Juventus on Monday night to try and strike a deal for Zaza.
The report claimed that negotiations would recommence between West Ham and Juventus on Tuesday.
It is said that Juventus want a loan fee of £5.2million with the option to buy next summer set a £18.9million.
In addition to Napoli being interested in the Italy international, Premier League rivals Southampton are also eyeing a move.
The Sun reported on Tuesday that new Southampton manager Claude Puel has identified Zaza as the player to rejuvenate his frontline in his debut Premier League season.
Zaza helped Juventus complete a domestic double last season with the Serie A title and the Italian Cup, although forwards Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata kept his game time limited.
The striker scored eight goals in 24 appearances in all competitions during the 2015-16 campaign.
West Ham are searching for a short-term attacking option after new £20.5million signing Andre Ayew and spearhead Andy Carroll both suffered serious injuries last week.
West Ham are also closely tracking Wilfried Bony as he is not part of Pep Guardiola’s plans at Manchester City.
