Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State has assured the governor-elect, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) of a smooth transition and handover in February 2017.
Mimiko stated this yesterday in his office while receiving Akeredolu and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He said his government was aware of the need to constitute a transition committee to ensure a smooth hand over.
Mimiko said: “We are making history because this is the first civilian to civilian transition that will be seamless and I’m proud to be part of this.”
The governor thanked the people of the state for their peaceful conduct during the elections.
He advised the governor-elect to uphold the peace in the state.
“We must break the jinx of hostile transitions and we need to do this for history. I thank God that our mindset is the same.”
Akeredolu commended Mimiko for the developmental projects in the state during his eight years administration.
Explaining the reason for the visit, he said: “We came to discuss how to set up a transition committee to work together so that the panel would complete their job on time before February 24.”
