Despite the ban placed on their activities, members of the Islamic
Movement of Nigeria aka Shi'ites, staged a protest in Kaduna state
yesterday, calling for the immediate release of their leader Ibrahim
El-Zakzaky.
The state government in October last year, banned the group from holding any procession or gathering in the state. The religious group members are demanding that the Federal government release their leader who has been in detention since December 2015 after a clash between some of their members and the Nigerian Army in Zaria, Kaduna state.
