The late Minister of State for Labour and Employment, James Ocholi, has been buried in his hometown Abocho in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State along with his wife, Blessing, and son, Joshua.
Their burial comes 12 days after their tragic deaths in a car crash along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway, which shocked the nation and the All Progressives Congress-led government that described him as a key component of the change agenda.
Thousands, including Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who led the Federal Government’s delegation, gathered for the burial, which followed an open-air mass.
Government officials in attendance included the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, and the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, and his Benue State counterpart, Dr. Samuel Ortom.
The late Ocholis’ final journey home began from Abuja on Thursday morning.
The ambulances conveying the corpses made a stop in Lokoja for a valedictory session organised by the Kogi State Chapter of the Nigerian Bar Association, before proceeding to Abocho where wailing relatives awaited.
