Muhammad Ali's Widow Says He Died 'Distressed By Some Of Things Going On Around The World'

The widow of Muhammad Ali has spoken publicly for the first time since his death revealing that her husband was 'distressed' by the problems of the world when he died two months ago.

Lonnie Ali sat down with NBC's Matt Lauer on the show on Tuesday to discuss the boxing legend and a new initiative she is launching in his honor.

In the interview, Lauer noted how the boxer converted to Islam and that he sent him a message when 'anti-Muslim rhetoric' grew after the deaths at the hands of ISIS.

'He was pretty distressed especially by some of the things going on around the world because he felt we had crossed a line, crossed a barrier and he was a little disappointed with that,' Lonnie said in reference to her husband and how he felt about the divisions.

'But Muhammad was a man of eternal optimism, he believed in the power of humanity and that is what he touched in most people.'

Since his death on June 3 from complications related to Parkinson's disease, Lonnie said that she is 'hanging in here' and 'living each day with purpose.'
